Like most girls growing up in Australia in the ’90s, page I wanted Catriona Rowntree’s job …
Travelling the world and getting paid to do it? Yep, viagra dosage that Getaway gig was the ultimate dream.
But once realising I would make a terrible hard-news television journalist halfway through university, and falling head over heels in love with magazines after a short work experience stint at CLEO magazine in Sydney, my path to print was set in stone.
After close to a decade of editing and writing about boy bands, puberty, dating, fashion and everything in between for some of Australia’s top magazines, I took the leap to the other side of the fence into tourism PR and spent three years pitching and pimping Queensland out to Australia’s best travel writers and bloggers.
In 2013 I said goodbye to the 9-5 to follow my dream of being a freelance travel writer and have been flitting around the world ever since.
I am also the editor of Tourism and Events Queensland’s consumer travel blog, Hello Sunshine, and run a copywriting and content consultancy called The Devil Wears Flip Flops – helping business owners to translate their message into snappy prose that sells. (And give boring or clichéd copy a swift roundhouse kick to the head. Chuck Norris style.).
Because life wasn’t crazy enough, in 2015 my partner and I renovated an old church hall and turned it into the Sunshine Coast’s hottest co-working space, Share Space.
You may have seen my words published in Escape (News Corp), Australian Traveller, Jetstar magazine, Renegade Collective, Shop Til You Drop, Cosmopolitan, Girlfriend, Dolly, TV HITS, Total Girl, K-Zone and Weight Watchers magazine.
